VOID!
An adaptive reuse proposal that turns a former industrial building at Beykoz Kundura into a hybrid cultural, social and entertainment complex.
Designed as an all-day destination, VOID brings together music, dining, nightlife and social interaction through concept bars, performance spaces and shared gathering areas. The programme shifts in character throughout the day, offering different experiences from daytime dining and informal gatherings to evening entertainment and live performances. By integrating the interior with the surrounding outdoor areas, the project creates a continuous social environment within the existing industrial setting.
The concept begins with two solid masses placed at contrasting angles, breaking the linear order of the existing structure and creating defined voids between and around them. Instead of treating these empty areas as leftover space, the project makes the void itself the main spatial element.
These spaces are activated through music, light, movement and sound, allowing users to experience changing levels of intensity, openness and interaction as they move through the building. The contrast between solid and empty creates moments of curiosity, tension, discovery and release, turning circulation into part of the experience rather than simply a connection between functions.
